How to Install WineHQ Software in Linux Systems
Wine is an open-source code and a free application layer that enables Windows software to run on Linux operating systems. Wine should not be expected to run all Windows programs. Using the search box on Wine's website, you can get extensive information about whether various Windows programs work properly with Wine.
You can install the Wine package by searching the Ubuntu app store (Software or Synaptic).
Although Wine can run many Windows programs with its default settings, some applications require various additional libraries. For example, games require DirectX. In order to easily add these types of programs to Wine, it may be useful to install third-party Winetricks software in addition to Wine.
To install a Windows program via Wine; Right-click on the installation file of the program with the .exe extension and use the "Open with Wine Program Loader" option in the menu that opens. In this way, you can install the program. You can now search the program in the tab menu and try to run it.
In order for some advanced programs to work properly, some additional settings may be required after this installation process. You can also use Wine's website to research whether there is an additional action to be done.
To remove the programs installed with Wine, its own "Add / Remove Programs" tool installed with Wine is used.
After Wine is installed, a hidden folder called .wine is created under the user's home directory: / home / your username / .wine
Within this folder, you can access folders such as virtual "C:" drive, Program Files, Windows. If you cannot see the .wine folder, you should make hidden files visible.
