Installing Oracle Linux 8
Today, we will explain the installation of the Oracle Linux 8 operating system, in which we released earlier versions. Oracle Linux is an extremely stable and stable operating system designed for Oracle Database, its database. You can use this operating system, which does not require any license, with Oracle Database or you can edit it for different purposes on its own.
You can download the Oracle Linux 8 .ISO file as free registration at https://edelivery.oracle.com/osdc/faces/Home.jspx.
1) When we mount our ISO file, we encounter the Oracle welcome screen as a classic. On this screen, we start the installation by saying “Install Oracle Linux 8.0.0”.
2) This screen will choose the language of the operating system. There are many languages including Turkish, but since I will install Oracle Database later, I leave it as "English" and continue by saying "Continue".
3) Firstly, I will make my “Keyboard” setting. Since my keyboard is not English but there is no problem, I return to my config screen with the "Done" button by adding the "English" option.
4) My next set will be in the time zone. I select "Istanbul" from the "Time & Date" section and return to my config screen with the "Done" button.
5) My next set will be to add features to my operating system. I come to the "Software Selection" section and return to my config screen by pressing the "Done" button so that "Server with GUI" is selected.
6) Now it's time for disk configuration. I have assigned a 120GB disk that I am working with for testing purposes and I want the operating system to format it as desired. Therefore, I come back with the "Done" button so that "Automatic" is selected in the Storage Configuration section. In this way, the disk will be configured automatically according to the hardware features of my virtual machine.
7) The queue came to our Network settings. Since my system has DHCP, I will get an automatic ip address. I come to the "Network & Host Manager" section and open my ethernet card by clicking the "ON" button. I come back to my config screen with "Done".
8) Now that I have made all my settings at the minimum level, I can start the installation by saying "Begin Installation".
9) Oracle will ask for a "root" password during installation.
10) I set a password for the root and come back with the "Done" button.
11) When the installation process is completed, the “Reboot” button is active and will ask us to restart the system.
12) After our operating system restarts, we are asked to accept the license terms.
13) We choose to choose "I accept the License" and come back with "Done".
14) With the acceptance of the license, the "Finish Configuration" button will be active. We click for the last time and make the operating system open.
15) Our operating system is now ready for use. We log in with root.
16) Our Oracle Linux 8 operating system is now ready for use.
