Drilling Tool to be Sent: NASA Explored $ 700 Kentillion Gold in 'Asteroid' Psyche 16
NASA is sending a drilling vehicle to the asteroid, which has 700 million dollars of gold and precious metals. If the resource on the asteroid is shared equally to all people, $ 93 trillion per capita falls.
According to the news of Hüseyin Koyuncu from Euronews, the total value of gold and precious metals in the asteroid "Psyche 16", according to the first estimates of space scientists, is 700 kentillion dollars.
Accordingly, if all these resources are shared equally, every person in the world earns $ 93 trillion.
NASA will start drilling in 2022 as part of its mission "Psyche: The journey to the metal world".
If nothing goes wrong, the unmanned space rocket will be launched from the Kennedy space center in Florida.
Then, the said drilling tool is expected to examine, map and fine-tune the asteroid for 21 months.
If the presence of such gold and precious metals becomes clear in Psyche 16, as expected, this will open the door to a new question: Is space mining possible?
In 1967, under the "Outer Space Agreement" adopted by Washington and signed by 104 countries, no private or public organization can operate the resources of the moon or celestial bodies.
However, in the Lunar Convention signed in 1979, it is stated that the sources of the Moon and all celestial bodies are part of the common heritage of humanity.
Accordingly, some countries and private institutions argue that space resources can be used for the benefit of humanity.
The Space act law, which was recently adopted in the USA in 2015, was entitled to American citizens to conduct commercial searches in space and to extract the mines they found. The law in question is criticized for being in contradiction with the Outer Space Agreement.
It is estimated that many countries, especially Russia, China and India, will withdraw from this agreement and will search for space resources.
