Another name pulled from Facebook Libra
Another company withdrew from the social media giant Facebook's own cryptocurrency project Libra, which also includes popular platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram.
After Mastercard, eBay, PayPal and Visa, telecommunications company Vodafone also announced that Facebook has withdrawn from the Libra project.
According to the news of NTV, Libra underlined that despite the recent declines, the digital money development project will continue without Vodafone.
Libra, which Facebook said it developed for 1.7 billion people without a bank account, was introduced in 2019, but it received many criticisms.
Swiss President Ueli Maurer claimed that Libra would not be accepted by central banks in a statement he made in the past months.
WHAT IS LIBRA?
While translating Libra into "scales" in Turkish, it is also a unit of weight (lb) used in Rome. Facebook argues that the cryptocurrency in question will be "a global currency and financial infrastructure system".
Technically, Libra is described as a digital asset powered by blockchain version created by Facebook, which is the encrypted technology used by bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
